Akıncan Kılıç
Ankara, Türkiye

Most people call me Akın. I build machine learning and software systems. Outside work, I play guitar and take photographs.

I am 25, born in Ankara in 2001, and I live here today. I work remotely and am open to relocating worldwide. My work history is on the home page.

Muse is my favourite band. I have spent years listening to their albums, b-sides and live recordings. The video above is my guitar cover of “The Dark Forest.”

I play guitar, I play piano and I sing. I also listen to rock, heavy metal, death metal and jazz, and spend free evenings in jazz clubs when I can.

Some of my favourite albums:

I have loved computers since I was a kid and that interest has never worn off. I wanted to understand the whole stack, from hardware and operating systems through programming languages and machine learning.

I used to write assembly for fun. Today most of my time goes into production software and machine learning systems, but the reason is still the same: I enjoy finding out how things work.

I graduated as valedictorian from Computer Engineering at Manisa Celal Bayar University with a 3.84 out of 4.00 GPA. I especially enjoyed algorithms, operating systems, networking and machine learning.

I spent a semester at Sapienza Università di Roma studying machine learning, cybersecurity and software engineering. It was my first experience living and studying abroad, and I would gladly do it again.

I also started learning Italian while I was there. I am still at an elementary level, but I enjoyed learning and using it in daily life.

I read philosophy, especially Marcus Aurelius and the Stoics. I do not build an identity around it, but many of their ideas about attention, responsibility and perspective have stayed with me.

I like to understand a system rather than stop when it first appears to work. That usually means reading the documentation, testing the edge cases, measuring the result and writing down the decisions.

That approach has carried across machine learning research, cloud infrastructure and product development.

I try to make or learn something every day. I enjoy being around people who care deeply about their own craft, whatever that craft happens to be.

I share some of the photos I take here.

Gölge is my lovely black British Shorthair. She has copper-amber eyes, a calm personality and makes every day better.

I am open to full-time roles worldwide, relocation and selected freelance projects. Email is the fastest way to reach me.
